Meaning
E.coli is a pathogenic bacteria found in meat that causes food poisoning.
About E.coli
- E.coli is found in the digestive system of some animals. When the animal is prepared as food the E.coli can be spread to the rest of the meat.
- If E.coli gets into the digestive system of a human it can affect the normal healthy bacteria causing pain, vomiting and diarrhea.
- A E.coli infection happens when uncooked food is eaten or a surface is not cleaned properly after raw meat has been placed on it.
- An E.coli infection can last several days.
- If a large colony of E.coli grows in a meat it produces a toxic chemical so even if the meat is cooked properly it can still cause illness due to the toxin.
