Key Stage 4
Meaning
A phloem cell is a plant cell that forms hollow tubes used in the transport of sugars around a plant.
About Phloem Cells
- Phloem cells have large vacuoles which join to the vacuoles in the next phloem cell to make a tube.
- The cell walls between phloem cells gets small holes to allow sugar to pass through. This is called a sieve plate.
