Meaning
Carbon compounds are compounds which contain one or more carbon atom.
About Carbon Compounds
- Carbon compounds usually have covalent bonds between the atoms.
- Carbon atoms can form an uncountable number of different compounds many with similar structure and similar properties.
- Since carbon atoms can form 4 bonds carbon compounds can be arranged into long chains and rings of carbon atoms.
- Hydrocarbons are carbon compounds made of only Carbon and Hydrogen atoms.
- Organic Molecules are carbon compounds made of carbon atoms as well as other atoms usually including Oxygen and Hydrogen.
