Key Stage 5

Meaning

Anti-particles are small units of anti-matter.

About Anti-particles

Many particles have anti-particle counterparts which have the same mass but opposite electrical charge.
During pair-production a particle and its anti-particle appear.
When a particle meets its anti-particle they annihilate one another producing a pair of photons.
Most anti-particles are given the name of its counterpart particle with the addition of the prefix anti. However, the anti-particle counterpart of the electron is known as the positron.
