Steel is the cheapest alloy to make.
Steel has a number of useful properties which make it ideal for a number of applications.

Meaning

Steel is an alloy of Iron containing a small percentage of Carbons and sometimes other metal elements.

Steel has a number of different alloys including 'stainless' steel which is resistant to corrosion.
