Meaning

A diagram a molecule of Carbon Dioxide showing Carbon as black and Oxygen as red.

Carbon Dioxide is a gaseous (at room temperature) chemical compound with formula CO2.

Testing for Carbon Dioxide

  1. Use a delivery tube to bubble the gas through Limewater.
  2. If the Limewater turns from transparent to cloudy then the gas is Carbon Dioxide.
