We get the nutrients from our food by absorbing nutrients through the wall of the small intestine.

About Absorbing Nutrients

The small intestine is adapted to be long to have a large surface area for absorption.
The small intestine has villi to increase the surface area for absorption.
The villi have a thin wall for quicker absorption.
The villi have a good blood supply to allow absorption into the blood.
