Key Stage 2
Meaning
The Circulatory System is a group of organs that work together to carry oxygen and nutrients around the body.
About the Circulatory System
- The circulatory system is how nutrients and oxygen are transported to every part of the body.
- The circulatory system is made up of the heart, blood vessels and the blood.
- If the circulatory system stops working all the organs in the body will run out of oxygen and die.
Key Stage 3
Meaning
The circulatory system is a transport system found in some animals used to transport oxygen, nutrients and waste around the body.
About the Circulatory System
The circulatory system is made of:
- The heart - An organ which pumps blood.
- Arteries - Blood Vessels which transport blood away from the heart.
- Veins - Blood Vessels which transport blood towards the heart.
- Capillaries - Extremely small Blood Vessels that spread through the organs to deliver the blood.
Key Stage 4
Meaning
The circulatory system is a transport system found in some animals used to transport oxygen, nutrients, waste and hormones around the body.
About the Circulatory System
The circulatory system is made of:
- The heart - An organ which pumps blood.
- Arteries - Blood Vessels which transport high pressure blood away from the heart.
- Veins - Blood Vessels which transport low pressure blood towards the heart.
- Capillaries - Extremely small Blood Vessels that spread through the organs to deliver the blood.
