Key Stage 4
Meaning
A structural diagram is a type of chemical formula drawn as a diagram which shows the arrangement of atoms in a compound.
About Structural Diagrams
- A structural diagrams gives more detail than a chemical formula about the arrangement of atoms in a compound as a chemical formula simply states the number of atoms of each element while a structural diagram displace the locations of atoms and the chemical bonds holding them together.
Examples

Chemical Formula | C3H8 | C3H6 | C3H7OH | C3H6O2 | C4H8 | C4H9OH |
Structural Formula | CH3CH2CH3 | CH2CHCH3 | CH3CH2CH2OH | CH3CH2COOH | CH2CHCH2CH3 | CH3CH2CH2CH2OH |
