Meaning
A native metal is one that is found in nature, not as part of a metal compound, but as an element.
About Native Metals
- Copper, Gold, Silver and Platinum can all found Native.
- Native metals are often found as a mixture called an alloy. For example when Gold is found, it is often mixed with Silver, so they may need to be separated.
Key Stage 4
Meaning
A native metal is one which is found in its elemental form and not part of a mineral.

- Metals that are found native are less reactive than Hydrogen on the reactivity series.
