When the current changes direction the paper cone moves. An alternating current causes the cone in the speaker to vibrate.

About Speakers

Speakers have a coil of wire and a permanent magnet to use the motor effect to vibrate a diaphragm attached to the coil of wire.
When the current changes direction the coil of wire moves. An alternating current causes the coil in the speaker to vibrate the diaphragm.
