Cellular Respiration
Key Stage 3
Meaning
Respiration is the process cells use to get energy from nutrients.
About Cellular Respiration
- Respiration usually uses a sugar called glucose which is broken down into smaller molecules releasing energy for the cell.
- In animal and plant cells respiration takes place in the mitochondria.
- In bacteria respiration takes place in the cytoplasm.
- Respiration can be aerobic which uses Oxygen or anaerobic which happens without Oxygen.
