Meaning
Conception is the three stages that lead to an embryo forming in the uterus.
About Conception
- Conception is divided into:
- Ovulation - When the ovum is released from an ovary and travels down the oviduct, aided by cilia which sweep it along.
- Fertilisation - When the an ovum and sperm fuse to produce a single cell, the start of an embryo.
- Implantation - When the embryo enters the uterus and an embeds itself in the lining of the uterus, which then forms the placenta and amnion.
