Meaning

A control rod is a cylindrical object used in nuclear fission reactors to slow or stop the nuclear reaction.

About Control Rods

Control rods are usually made of Boron because it is able to absorb the neutrons easily.

Control rods can be inserted or removed from the nuclear reactor to block the neutrons released by one fuel rod from reaching another fuel rod.
