Meaning

Sulphate is a negative ion with a relative charge of -2 and a chemical formula of SO4-2 which combine with positive ions to form salts.

About Sulphate

Sulphate has gained two electrons to have a relative charge of -2.
Sulphate forms ionic bonds with positive ions.
Sulphates containing a Sulphate are ionic compounds.
